Day job gone

Finally given up the day job and spent all day writing in my study.

Started the day reading what I had written previously and picked up the links etc.

Soon had a cup of coffee on my Guinness bar mat.  I picked up a few of these mats in Dublin in 1993 and still have a few left.

Once I got going, spent the morning writing about 1800 words.  A lunchtime break was well deserved methinks, then worked the afternoon typing on my notebook.
A good days work I think, feeling satisfied having spent a day doing what I really enjoy.
Will do the same tomorrow.

Price reduction

The price of The Gordian Knot has been reduced on Amazon.co.uk

The RRP is £9.99 for the paperback edition, now down to just £5.97

This is not a permanent price reduction so I guess it's first come first served!

Happy reading.

The power of the pen.

I usually write my novels during the evenings, leaving Friday evening clear to drink wine and relax!

Weekends, when time permits, I copy type my hand written manuscript or edit.

Last week I wrote almost seven thousand words over the four evenings and when I started at the beginning of the week my pen was full of ink.

Yesterday, five writing days later, my pen was empty.

Luckily I have a box of fifty.

I prefer to write manuscripts using black ink, red for editing naturally, but I use blue and sometimes green ink for notes.

At the moment I'm on a roll and my word count is mounting as the story reaches its climax. I have approximately 85000 words now, the target is 120000 or there about, so at my current production rate, not long to go before the book is complete.

As this is the third and final book in the Torc Trilogy, all the loose ends have to be tied up satisfactorily, leaving nothing for the reader to feel cheated or dissatisfied about.

Having spent a couple of weeks off work over the Christmas and New Year period, I am full of creativity and ideas, but as the month progresses and the stress of work takes hold my word count will probably slow up.

Give up the day job methinks!

Happy reading wherever you are.

In The Zone

The Life of a Writer

Yesterday evening I started work in my study at about 7:30 pm.
At 8:00 pm my wife brought me in a cup of coffee and asked me if we were going to watch an episode of something on TV at 9:00 and I said yes.
At 8:45 she gave me a reminder, at 10:00 pm she walked past my study asking me to turn the lights off when I come to bed, (ooops)!
At 11:15pm I realised that my coffee had gone cold, my wife was asleep and the time had passed by without my noticing!
Now that is what we call being In The Zone and tonight I will probably do it all again!
