My books have arrived

100 books turned up yesterday, hoorrah!  Just in time for my book launch next weekend.
I had the books delivered to my place of work to avoid missing the delivery man and before I had unloaded the boxes from the van I sold three books.
I must admit, they do look good.  The publisher has done a great job turning my painting of Josie into a book cover.  Its such a thrill to see one of my paintings being used as a book cover.

The Witness is now available on Amazon.

737 simulator

At the controls of a 737.  Bit of a bumpy landing so pulled over on the grass for a de-brief.  Damn good fun flying this bird but so much going on during a landing.

The Witness

This is the front cover of my new novel 'The Witness'.
The final draft is complete and we are just messing around with chapter headings and paragraphing etc, so everything is set for a May 4th launch.
Invites are going out as I type this and soon the books will be in production.
Phew! didn't think it would all be done on time.

Presentation

I was presenting to a group of people today near too where I live.  A classical guitarist entertained us then I did my bit.  My talk was about my novel The Belgae Torc and general considerations when writing a novel.  I also introduced my second book The Witness that is due to be published on May 4th.  There was another author talking, she is a ghost writer, specialising in writing peoples memoirs and biographies.  It was a great afternoon and I sold some books.

The Witness update

I have just completed reading the first PDF draft of my novel The Witness.  My publisher sent it to me earlier this week with proposals for set up etc.  Having read it through there are a few changes to make, the odd typo and silly words that need moving, nothing too drastic.  I am both excited and saddened, I have been working on this novel on and off for the last ten years and it has become a close friend.  Now it's almost done, and I'm pleased that it will be published, a small part of me doesn't want to let it go.  Silly I know, especially as now I can crack on with something else.
Anyway, at least I'm on track for a May 4th launch.  The venue has been booked and evrything has been set up, just hope I can get the printed novels in time!

Presentation

Next Tuesday I'm giving a talk to a group of adults about writing a novel.  I intend to include various methods of planning, character forming, MORSEX ie Making the Ordinary Sound Extra Ordinary, dialogue, advancing the plot etc, etc.  As this group is not made up of budding authors I will have to keep it light and informative.  They will of course be readers, so I can draw on their interest in books in general.  Hopefully they will find this interesting and maybe look at books differently in future.  They may even begin to question the plot and style in which it's written or see things from the authors perspective instead of just reading the plot.
I will also take along a stock of  The Belgae Torc and with a bit of luck sell a few copies, signed of course!
Will let you know how it goes.

Hello Russia

I would just like to say hello to Russia.  I have noticed an upturn in Russian visitors to my blog.  I know that I have some fans in Moscow who have read my novel The Belgae Torc, so I assume you have discovered my blog.  It would be nice to receive messages from you.  Keep blogging and look out for my next novel The Witness coming out on Amazon in May.  All the best.
