Author spotlight.

I was interviewed a couple of weeks ago when taking part in a Pop Up Bookshop event.

Authors Spotlight, Kevin Marsh

We asked Kevin Marsh about his books and inspiration. Kevin writes thrillers, crime and adventure/action books.

What inspires you?

I like to people watch and listen in on conversations. (To my wife's annoyance)! I use this to help develop my characters and situations in my books. I also like to visit places both here and abroad and imagine my characters being there, what they would think and say so this helps me to understand different perspectives which is useful when developing characters.

What are you currently working on?

I am half way through writing another crime, the next in my series.

I also have two unpublished crime novels that I am editing, (occasionally). Hopefully, the next one is due out later this year.

What do you enjoy?

I'm a keen cyclist and like to keep fit. I like walking in the countryside, travelling to pubs to sample the local ales. My staples are red wine, chocolate and cheese! I also enjoy reading a good book.

A bit about you and your books.

I write in different genres. My first books were Historical/modern day action adventure novels, a trilogy known as The Torc Trilogy. I then wrote a psychological thriller featuring a very nasty man called Mr Mac. My latest books are Crime novels, featuring DI Isobel Woods. I have three published, two finished but as yet unpublished and another on the way. I have ideas for other types of books so maybe the next one will be different.

Kevin Marsh was born in Canterbury in 1961. He lived and went to school there attending the Technical College, (now Canterbury College), as an apprentice sheet metal worker. During his five years of training he worked at a small local company with his father and brother. In 1981 he was married and moved to Whitstable, (his father's home town).

His first novel, The Belgae Torc, book 1 in the Torc Trilogy, was launched on 30th June 2012. Two more books followed to complete the trilogy then a change of genre produced a psychological thriller then a series of crime novels.

He is now semi-retired from teaching steel fabrication and welding and spends more time writing, walking and cycling.
